He graduated from Tulane Medical School in Internal Medicine, was chief resident in Internal Medicine and Chief Clinical Director at Charity Hospital. He graduated from Ole Miss in 1959 in pre-med and was a member of ODK Alpha Epsilon Delta Phi Eta Sigma Cardinal Club and president of Phi Delta Theta. He was President of his graduating class. He graduated in 1955 from Central High School which was the last year to have only one high school in Jackson.
